Sound familiar?

The morning after.

  • A pounding headache and a mouth like sandpaper.
  • You can’t keep water down.
  • Too queasy to eat, too wired to sleep.
  • A full day ahead and no time to lose.
  • You know you overdid it, and you want your day back.

Fluids come first. When you can’t keep them down, an IV puts them back.

What’s happening in your body

Why the morning after hurts.

A hangover is several things going wrong at once.

Fluid loss Toxic effects Hormone changes Inflammation
  1. Fluid lossAlcohol makes you pass more urine, so you wake up dry: thirst, headache, dizziness.
  2. Toxic effectsAlcohol and what your body breaks it into act directly on the body, adding to nausea and feeling unwell.
  3. Hormone changesAlcohol disturbs the hormones that balance water and salt, which adds to the dryness and headache.
  4. InflammationDrinking heavily switches on inflammatory messengers (cytokines), part of why you ache and feel ill.

What we do

Rehydrate, then rest.

We are honest about the evidence: no treatment has been proven to cure a hangover. What reliably helps is fluid, rest and, if you are being sick, anti-nausea treatment. An IV puts fluid back fast when you can’t keep water down.

Same-day sick visits

If you are vomiting or feel unwell beyond a hangover, see a clinician. Call before 2:00 PM for a same-day visit.

Safety first

  • Never drink and drive, and don’t drive while you are still impaired.
  • Confusion, vomiting that won’t stop, seizures, slow or irregular breathing, pale or blue-tinged skin, or someone you can’t wake: that is alcohol poisoning. Call 911 now.
  • This is not emergency care.

Questions

Common questions

Does an IV cure a hangover?

No treatment has been proven to cure one. An IV replaces fluid quickly when you can’t keep water down, and many people choose it to feel better faster, but we won’t promise it works for everyone.

When is it more than a hangover?

Confusion, vomiting that won’t stop, seizures, slow or irregular breathing, pale or blue-tinged skin, or someone you can’t wake are signs of alcohol poisoning. Call 911. This is not emergency care.

Can I drive afterwards?

Not while you are still impaired. A hangover slows thinking and coordination even when your blood alcohol is back to zero. Get a ride.

How do I book?
